How is a placing boom different from a standard concrete pump?

A standard stationary or truck-mounted concrete pump pushes concrete through a pipeline to a discharge hose, which then needs to be manually positioned at the pour point. A placing boom instead attaches that discharge point to a rigid, multi-section arm that a single operator can position precisely via remote control - removing the need to manually drag hose across a live pour site, which is both slower and riskier on upper floors or congested sites.
