Why is my hydraulic cylinder leaking fluid at the rod?

A leak at the rod seal is the most common cylinder fault and usually means the dynamic seal has worn from cycling - we also check the rod surface for scoring, since a scored rod won't seal cleanly even with a new seal kit.
